Bharati Kannamma - 2

  This is one of my favorite poetry of Bharatiyar , Whenever i read this poem i feel that Bharati also would have felt little special while writing this poem .. ( Its just my view ) .. I feel that even after so many  years there is no romantic song substituting this particular piece .. Moving on with translations ....

பாயு மொளி நீ யெனக்குப் பார்க்கும் விழி நானுனக்கு

You are the Light for me while i am the eyes , inner meaning is that though i am not blind i cannot see without light , you remain as light in my life ...

தோயும் மது நீ யெனக்குத் தும்பியடி நானுனக்கு;

You are the nectar in flower while i am the bee ... 

வாயுரைக்க வருகுதில்லை; வாழிநின்றன் மேன்மை யெல்லாம்;

Sometimes we know what it is , but we find it difficult to say , this is what happens to Bharati too, he says that i am not able to say about you , let your great qualities remain the same.

தூயசுடர் வானொளியே! சூறையமுதே! கண்ணம்மா!

Pure light from sky , சூறை means steal , from my understanding i get a humpty number of meaning for this one word  ... Kannama steals Bharati's heart , so it can be interpreted as nectar which steals Bharati's heart ... 

My another interpretation, Amrita is a drink in heaven which gives eternal life , Lord Krishna steals that amrita from Demons and hands it over to Devas for their long lasting life , that stolen amrita which gives eternal life is Kanamma according to Bharti ...

வீணையடி நீ யெனக்கு, மேவும் விரல் நானுனக்கு;

You are musical instrument veena while my fingers plays you

பூணும் வடம் நீ யெனக்கு, புது வயிரம் நானுனக்கு;

வடம்:  Rope , While Upnayana , every guy wears a holy thread and from that moment he gets a new life ... inbuilt meaning is you are the holy thread which i wear and i am the new life which we get.

காணுமிடந்தோறு நின்றன் கண்ணி னொளி வீசுதடி

Wherever i see all that i see is your eyes ...

மானுடைய பேரர சே! வாழ்வு நிலையே! கண்ணம்மா! 

Like i mighty king i can live when i have you Kannamma ...

வான் மழை நீ யெனக்கு, வண்ணமயில் நானுனக்கு; 

You are rain for me , while i am the peacock for you ... Peacock gets excited seeing rain like wise Bharati gets excited seeing Kannamma ...

பான மடி நீ யெனக்குப் பாண்டமடி நானுனக்கு

You are my drink while i am the vessel or cutlery which holds you, Bharati refers that he will hold Kanamma admist all odds ...

ஞான வொளி வீசுதடி; நங்கை நின்றன் சோதிமுகம் 

Your Face is lit with intelligence ...

ஊனமறு நல்லழகே! ஊறு சுவையே! கண்ணம்மா 

Kannamma is flawless beauty and taste which tempts the tongue 

வெண்ணிலவு நீ யெனக்கு, மேவு கடல் நானுனக்கு; 

You are moon for me while i am ocean of love for you ... 

பண்ணுகதி நீ யெனக்குப் பாட்டினிமை நானுனக்கு; 

You are structured music ( shruti ) while i am the song for you ...

எண்ணியெண்ணிப் பார்த்திடிலோர் எண்ணமிலை நின்சுவைக்கே;

How much ever i think about you there is no substitute for you ...The mere thinking of you gives taste for my survival ... 

கண்ணின் மணி போன்றவளே! கட்டியமுதே! கண்ணம்மா! 

You are like my eye ball , my sweet candy Kannamma

வீசு கமழ் நீ யெனக்கு, விரியுமலர் நானுனக்கு

you are the fragrance or scent of flower while i am the flower that blossoms ... We can never seperate flower and its fragrance like wise it means Bharati and Kannamma can never be separated...

பேசுபொருள் நீ யெனக்குப் பேணுமொழி நானுனக்கு

You are the topic in which i speak while i am your language ... To speak about anything we need language as medium of communication

நேசமுள்ள வான்சுடரே; நின்னழகை யேதுரைப்பேன்?

Lovable star, how will i express your beauty , your beauty is such that which can be never explainable ..

ஆசை மதுவே, கனியே, அள்ளு சுவையே கண்ணம்மா

Kanamma you are wine which i crave for more ... ( i never get saturated being with you ) , sweetest fruit , the taste which always makes me wish for more ...

காதலடி நீ யெனக்குக் காந்த மடி நானுனக்கு

You are love for me while i am magnet for you ...

வேதமடி நீ யெனக்கு, வித்தையடி நானுனக்கு

You are veda for me while i am magical for you ... Veda is something which is sacred

போதமுற்ற போதினிலே பொங்கிவருந் தீஞ்சுவையே!

When i attain consiousness you are the one i think of

நாதவடி வானவளே! நல்லஉயிரே கண்ணம்மா!

You are so musical , Great soul you are Kanamma

நல்லவுயிர், நீ யெனக்கு, நாடியடி நானுனக்கு

You are my life while i am pulse, without pulse there is no life likewise without you there is no me ...

செல்வமடி நீ யெனக்கு, சேம நிதி நானுனக்கு

You are my wealth while i am savings for you

எல்லையற்ற பேரழகே! எங்கும் நிறை பொற்சுடரே!

Endless beauty , You are everywhere

முல்லை நிகர் புன்னகையாய்! மோதுமின்பமே! கண்ணம்மா!

Your smile is like lilly flowers ... ( Your teeth is like lily flower and when you smile i can see it ) , you are the happiness which hits me ... Kanamma

தாரையடி நீ யெனக்குத் தண்மதியம் நானுனக்கு;

You are the stream of water while i am the moon which falls on you ... Shadow of moon falls on Stream which is running

வீரமடி நீ யெனக்கு, வெற்றியடி நானுனக்கு;

You are valour while i am victory, Best gift for valour is always Victory

தாரணியில் வானுலகில் சார்ந்திருக்கும் இன்பமெல்லாம்
ஒருருவமாய்ச் சமைந்தாய்! உள்ளமுதே! கண்ணம்மா! 

Whatever heavenly pleasure we can get in earthly world is in your form , Kannamma.
